Athens is a wonderful city to visit throughout the year, but it can be particularly pleasant in spring (May to June) and also in the autumn (September to October). At this time of the year, the weather and climate in Athens is fine and generally fresher than at the height of summer, with high temperatures.
In the summer it is advisable to wear lightweight clothing, a hat and sunglasses. Be sure to bring a good sunscreen and be careful to avoid getting sunburnt in this sunny city.
During the spring or autumn, a jacket or sweater in the evenings is usually needed. In the winter, the temperature in Athens rarely drops below freezing, when rainfall in the city is at its highest.
